Relax and Reflect

So I have completed the 20 for 2.0. I do feel like a learned a little about a lot of new things. I doubt if very many of them will become a part of my life. I had already used some of the online apps and will probably continue to use them occasionally. I enjoyed looking a Google Earth. I do use the maps. I am not a blogger nor will I be putting photos on the Web. I found it all interesting (well most of it) but probably not helpful for me personally. I don't expect to be helping too many patrons as most people who want to blog probably already know how. And even using the online applications can be a trial to use with a patron as most require logging in and probably providing an e-mail address that the patron probably doesn't have.

Anyway, all in all, this was an interesting exercise. It "forced" me to at least look at some things that I probably wouldn't have. I might be interested in trying another similar training, but since this one was mandatory I was more encouraged to complete it.

Gaming

Finally the end of this exercise is in sight. Gaming was interesting. I don't play video games and rarely play a game of solitaire on my pc. I am an old fashioned game player--crosswords with a pen or pencil. Card games with actual cards. I did a crossword at Yahoo games. It was OK but would have been easier and faster with a pencil. Although I can't figure out Sodoku (or Suduko---obviously I can't even spell it) even with a pencil. Some of these activities can be very helpful for people who feel unfamiliar with their computers---we recommend Solitaire to people who need experience using a mouse.

Google Earth

This was a good one. I have looked at it before, but spent more time this time. Very interesting.

Week 17 Avatars

OK here is my avatar. I think this is really goofy. I do not live in virtual reality.
I guess I am too old and set in my ways and certainly not a gamer.

Week 16

(ZOHO)Lots of options on this toolbar. I don't suppose this will support Office 2007 either.

(Google docs) I really like Google docs and spreadsheets. I have used it in the past to send files from work to home. However, now it doesn't seem to recognize our Office 2007 stuff.

I like both of these services. Once I find that I can access Office 2007 documents I will be much more enthusiastic.
